Autumn Skiing Kicks Off

Boy, oh boy! Summer didn’t last very long. After my gallivanting around Europe in May and June I eventually got down to work in Val Thorens on a ski-lift construction project, connecting Val Tho to Orelle. Of course the 2010/2011 ski season is now upon us in Tignes, and with construction work still ongoing, most of my Autumn skiing will be limited to the weekends.

For the high-altitude builder, the autumn weather has been a bit dismal, and I can report a some heavy early snow falls above 2500m. This has put some smiles on the faces of visitors to Tignes, and the glacier is looking very white. A great reference point for the condition of the Tignes glacier is the Snowheads ‘Tignes’ forum, which has regular updates from other site users, with some nice photos too.

Many of the British visitors coming to Tignes right now seem to be taking adavantage of Mountain Sun’s £99 three night deal at the Hotel Melezes, which includes lift pass, half-board stay and transfer from Geneva. Which is an unbeatable price, and top hospitality. If you need an Autumn short-break then it’s worth a look. I might be able to help you find a ski instructor too!
